Developers Checklist
This is a generalised list of tasks required by both you the client and your designer.
- Meet with client to discuss ideas
- Choose domain name
- Setup hosting
- Choose template or create design ideas discussed with client
- Choose heading/button names for main areas
- Choose sub headings if required
- Create basic site layout using the tree structure system
- If required, edit "Flash" template to accommodate new button headings & links
- Create "Dreamweaver" template for overall site
- Create/Manipulate CSS if needed
- Check site in different browsers
- Check site in different screen resolutions
- Check all menu linking between pages
- Collaborate with client on the best keywords & descriptions to use on the index.html (Home Page) to optimize search engine placement
- Insert all information (client supplied) into relevant html pages
- Check all header information is correct, including longer description for index.html
- Edit images to fit into relevant pages
- Make sure all image alt tags are labeled correctly
- Check pages to see how they look using "View>Text Size" variation on browser
- Setup contact forms where needed
- Add "Form Tools" to all forms on site.
- Setup up "Form Tools" html email output pages to resemble logos and colours of clients site
- Add form protection tags from spamming (encrypting contact page).
- Setup all email accounts
- If required, help client setup email using Outlook or Outlook Express
- Get a list of keywords that describes the site from the client (assist if needed)
- Complete Meta Tags for all relevant pages (More Info...) into "Dreamweaver" template/s
- Spell check & review site (both client & developer)
- Do S.E.O. (Search Engine Optimization) on site
- Add Favicon to site
- Get client approval and sign off on all work completed when site is finished (100% satisfied)
- Insert Site to search engines
