Writing A Home Page Article Using Keywords
When writing information or a blurb for your websites index (home) page make sure you start with a list of keywords that you want your site to be found by (Keywords are words that someone would type in to find your site). Let’s say you have a shop or site that sells wedding supplies in Townsville, then your key words would be something like:
- Wedding supplies
- Wedding party favors
- Wedding ideas
- Wedding accessories
- Wedding decorations
- Wedding website
- Wedding bouquets
Use the following keyword tool to help: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
This is a short list, but you get the idea. Remember, when someone is searching for something on the NET they want to find it quick. If they arrive at your site because of incorrect keywords, then they’ll hit the back button quick as a flash. You are better off selecting a few IMPORTANT keywords than a thousand ones that loosely describe your site or business.
Creating Articles / Paragraphs
Your front page text should be a mixture of
- Location (Hermit Park, Townsville, Queensland, Australia)
- Main products you sell
- Main use of your site
The following is an example of a site that sells Wedding Supplies
Welcome to Wally’s Wedding World! We are located at 35 Wally Street, Hermit Park in the beautiful city of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. Wally’s Wedding World supplies sells all wedding related products and has been a Townsville icon for quality wedding paraphernalia for the last 25 years selling such items as wedding party favors, wedding accessories, wedding decorations, wedding bouquets plus much more. Come into our shop front at 35 Wally Street Hermit Park, Townsville to view our large range of wedding supplies.
If we break apart this paragraph and look at it from a keyword/search engine's perspective, you can see a lot of uses of the word wedding, supplies and 2 uses of the shop Title and location. This means if someone wanted to find wedding supplies in Townsville they might type “Wedding Supplies Townsville” into Google. This listing would show in the first few pages. However, if someone typed in only “Wedding Supplies” the search is a lot broader and would retrieve far more results.
Summary: When writing your home page information make repetitive uses of keywords, location and products.
