Zen Cart (Shopping Cart System) Install & Setup

Zen Cart is one of the more popular shopping cart systems and one of the reasons for this is because it's FREE, this is called "Open Source" software. While the program is free, unless you have knowledge on web design, PHP editing MYSQL Databases and file transferring over the Internet (FTP) it can be a little confusing to set-up. D.P Web Design will install the software on a server, set-up payment & delivery methods plus add and modify a selected template for you in theme with you company identity.

There are hundreds of shopping cart programs available, but none come close to offering the level of options, features and support available with Zen Car. Even the commercial programs have a hard time competing.

Don't be fooled buy the template sites saying how easy it is to download and have your site running within hours. There is still a lot of editing in a ready made templates to get it to your companies specifications, for example...

  • button/navigation editing (changing the wording & amount of buttons needed)
  • flash movie editing
  • site page creation
  • setting up the form delivery system

The advantage of templates give you, the client a clear idea of how your site will look and feel. This is because you can use a functioning demo of the site before you purchase it. One of the disadvantages is there may be other companies using the same template for their business. Keeping in mind modifications to the template to suite your business will change its appearance considerably.
