# Does Your Business Run Entirly on Facebook

#### WARNING! WARNING WARNING!

Why I Don’t Rely on Facebook — And Neither Should You

I've heard countless stories from clients about how Facebook has banned, suspended, or outright closed their accounts—often for so-called "violations" or being suspected of spamming, even when they weren’t doing anything wrong. And you know what? Part of me says, *good riddance* to Face(crap)book.

Facebook used to be brilliant—a fantastic tool that connected friends in ways we weren’t used to. But now? It’s a never-ending scroll of TV ads, filled with mindless prattle and fake friendliness, all with one goal: to sell you something or scam you.

Over a year ago, someone gained access to my Face-terd account and removed my personal profile from my **DP Web Design** page (weird, right?). Later, I discovered that some of my old devices—ones I’d already sold—were still listed under my Facebook device settings. Thinking that might be the way they got in, I deleted them all. Still doesn’t make sense, though—I always wipe my devices before selling.

Regardless, I begrudgingly enabled 2-Factor Authentication on my Face-boob account. And yet, like clockwork, I kept receiving “We received a request to reset your Facebook password” emails. At least once a month.

Then came April 2022, 2:37 AM—an email popped in:

"We noticed an unusual login from a device or location you don’t usually use. Was this you?"

Sydney? Nope. Not me.
I laughed. “Good luck! That account has 2FA—it’s impossible.”
 Then, nine minutes later:

**You have 30 days to request a review**
 *Hi Danny,
Your Facebook account has been disabled. This is because your account, or activity on it, doesn’t follow our Community Standards...*

And then, five minutes after that:

*Hi Danny,
It looks like someone may have accessed your Facebook account. To secure your account, you’ll need to answer a few questions and change your password the next time you go to Facebook...*

I crawled out of bed at 9 AM, saw all of this, and reset my password. But once I logged in, I was told I’d violated their terms. I followed the steps to request a review like a good robot. From that point on, I could no longer access my account—just this message:

**Review requested**
*If we find that your posts or comments didn’t follow our Community Standards, your account will remain disabled...*

Trying to resolve it? Good luck! I scoured the internet and laughed (then cried) at Facebook’s so-called “help” guides:

*“There is no set time limit or time frame for the Facebook review. Some users may find that their account is recovered relatively quickly... others may wait indefinitely... A typical time frame is anywhere from 48 hours to 45 days.”*

Seriously? What kind of timeframe is that?

**Can you actually talk to someone at Facebook?**
 Short answer: **No.**
You can’t call or email anyone for technical issues like account reviews. You’re on your own.

So at this point, you might be thinking, *“Stick a dummy in it and stop whining, ya big baby.”*
And you know what? Fair enough—I don’t really give a hoot anymore.

But here’s the real issue. What if it happens to you?

- You’ve bought an $800 Oculus Quest 2 that *requires* a Facebook account, and you’ve spent $500+ on games. If they shut your account down, you’ve lost everything. (Happened to me.)
- You’ve used “Sign in with Facebook” on dozens of sites. Getting back into those accounts will be a nightmare.
- Your business *relies* on Facebook. You use Messenger for clients, you’ve set up products and services, and have automated messaging. If your account is disabled, **it all stops.**

My business doesn’t rely on Facebook. I’ve designed it that way.

But if yours does, you're at the mercy of a bot. One misfire, and your income could stop overnight. No warning. No appeals process. No human help. Just an endless loop of support pages that don’t support anything.

**Take control of your business.**
 **Get a website.**
