If a security problem occurs, DP Web Design will manage the immediate response and recovery process, using the available security and backup systems to help get your website safely back online. You also receive one hour of website support each year for minor website changes or troubleshooting. These are available at a reduced rate of $55 per year. For example, if you have four websites with DP Web Design, you would have one Primary package ($440 per year) and three Secondary packages ($55 each per year). This is not shared hosting—each Secondary package is a standalone hosting environment with the same resources and allowances as the Primary Hosting, Security & Maintenance Package. Unfortunately, the one hour of support time is only included with the Primary package, although this hour can be used across any of your Secondary websites if needed. NOTE: To offer this service at the reduced rate, all websites must be billed together under one business name, on the same invoice and within the same billing cycle. Each domain will still be itemised separately. For example, if you have four websites, one will be treated as the Primary Hosting Package and the other three as Secondary packages, all listed on the same invoice under the primary business name. ### Website Security, Backups & Recovery - **FAST, RELIABLE SERVERS:** Your website is hosted within a reliable server environment managed by DP Web Design. This allows us to maintain consistent hosting settings, monitor server health and respond quickly to hosting-related issues. - **BACKUPS:** Your website is regularly backed up and copies are stored across multiple locations for disaster recovery. Backups are retained according to the available backup schedule and cannot guarantee recovery of every recent change or item of data. - **SECURITY MONITORING:** Your website is monitored using malware detection, exploit prevention and server-level security tools. These measures are designed to reduce risk, but no website or security system can be guaranteed to prevent every compromise. - **INITIAL SECURITY RESPONSE:** If suspected unauthorised activity is detected, DP Web Design will carry out an initial assessment, contain the immediate risk where reasonably possible, apply available security updates and, where suitable, restore the website from a recent clean backup. - **RECOVERY LIMITS:** Detailed forensic investigation, extensive malware or database clean-up, manual repair, data recovery or a complete website rebuild is not included as unlimited maintenance. This work may use the included support time or an active support package, or it may be quoted separately. If no suitable backup is available, DP Web Design will assess the available recovery options before further work proceeds. - **ROUTINE UPDATES:** Compatible WordPress or Joomla core updates, plugins, extensions and themes are updated when suitable releases become available. Hosting You are under no obligation to host your website with DP Web Design. The advantage of hosting with us is that we know the server environment, administration tools and software configurations used for the websites we maintain. This usually allows us to work more efficiently and reduce time spent diagnosing unfamiliar hosting restrictions. When a website is hosted elsewhere, additional troubleshooting may be required if the provider uses different software versions, security restrictions or server configurations. Work required to diagnose or resolve issues involving an external host may be chargeable. For clients who want hosting, routine maintenance, backups, security monitoring and initial incident response managed in one place, we recommend the DP Web Design Hosting, Security & Maintenance Package. If you choose external hosting, DP Web Design can provide general provider suggestions. Responsibility for the external hosting service remains with the selected provider, and assistance with hosting restrictions or outages may require paid support. ## Have Some Questions? What Is Hosting? A website is just a collection of small files consisting of HTML or php pages, pictures, audio, video and much more, much like a bunch of linking word documents. All these files link together and make your web site. The main setup, navigation and pictures that make up a basic site can usually fit on a the old 3.5" floppy disk (remember them?... Nope! Well then let's say a small USB drive). Now, because of NBN connections in almost every house, websites can afford to be larger in size and have more interactive content. The files that can consume a lot of hard disk space and traffic are: - Audio (.mp3 & .wav files) - Video (.mpeg & .avi) - Pictures (large/high resolution pictures and databases) - PDF Documents An **Internet hosting service** is a company that has their computers connected to the Internet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Think of these computers as real estate and you rent the space needed to house your business (the afore mentioned website files). Do I have to host with you? No. When you choose to have your website built by DP Web Design, you are under no obligation to host it with us. If you choose an external hosting provider, that provider remains responsible for its server performance, outages, backups and hosting support. Any work required from DP Web Design to diagnose or resolve problems involving external hosting will be charged at the applicable support rate. Clients who want hosting, routine maintenance, backups, security monitoring and initial incident response managed together can use the DP Web Design Hosting, Security & Maintenance Package. When we transfer our domain name to you, does that means we own the domain name and we can ask any company to host it? Yes correct, all that will happen is that DP Web Design becomes the registrar (manager) for that domain and invoicing will come from us. The domain is 100% yours and you still have access to do with it as you wish. You are more than welcome to keep it where it is but most clients like to have one company manage it all so there is no confusion on who to call when there is a problem. By hosting our website, does that mean that emails go through DP Web Design servers? All emails will go through DP Web Design servers unless you're using Office 365, G-Suite or other forms of external server or cloud mail services. If you are not using any specialised mail services then any issues you may have with email or hosting you will be contacting me directly. If we are working before or after business hours or on weekends (which is the case the majority of the time) and emails go down, previously I would phone our old hosting provider and their technical support people would fix the problem free of charge. Hosting and email faults directly relating to services managed by DP Web Design are covered by the applicable hosting package. The Hosting, Security & Maintenance Package also includes routine maintenance, backups, security monitoring and an initial response to suspected website security incidents. Detailed investigation, extensive malware clean-up, data recovery, manual repair or rebuilding may use the included support time, an active support package or require a separate quote. What happens in that situation now? Who do I contact for email problems? If I contact you, is there a charge for this? Contact DP Web Design for server, hosting or email faults involving services we directly manage. These issues are generally covered by the applicable hosting package. Problems caused by a local computer or mobile device, email software configuration, third-party services, external DNS providers or requests outside normal hosting support may require chargeable assistance. What happens if you decide to close up shop? If the day comes when we close up shop (and hell freezes over) we will start sending out all client access information. It is always good practice to be in control of all your access information, things like website, hosting, domain & email account details. All your client information is managed securely in a database (always backed up), you can request all your details at any time for your personal safe storage.
