Your website is hosted on DP Web Design’s managed server environment with backups, security systems and support available when something needs attention. The package also includes one hour of hands-on website maintenance and support each year, which can be used for software updates, security-related work, troubleshooting or minor website changes.

How the included support hour works

When website-level maintenance is required — such as updating Joomla, WordPress, components, plugins or extensions, addressing a security concern or carrying out minor website changes — the time spent is recorded against your included one-hour annual allowance. Hosting, server and email faults relating directly to DP Web Design services are handled separately and do not normally use this time.

Website Security, Backups & Maintenance

  • FAST, RELIABLE SERVERS: Your website is hosted within a reliable server environment managed by DP Web Design. This allows us to maintain consistent hosting settings, monitor server health and respond quickly to hosting-related issues.

  • BACKUPS: Your website is regularly backed up and copies are stored across multiple locations for disaster recovery. Backups are retained according to the available backup schedule and cannot guarantee recovery of every recent change or item of data.

  • SECURITY SYSTEMS: Automated and server-level security tools are used to help identify malware, suspicious activity and known threats. These systems reduce risk, but they do not mean DP Web Design is manually reviewing every website or component continuously, and no security system can guarantee that every compromise will be prevented.

  • INITIAL SECURITY RESPONSE: If suspected unauthorised activity is detected, DP Web Design will assess the hosting-level issue and take reasonable steps to contain the immediate risk. Hands-on website-level work—such as updating, disabling or repairing affected Joomla, WordPress, plugin, component or extension software—is recorded against the included Website Maintenance & Support Allowance.

  • RECOVERY LIMITS: Where suitable, a recent clean backup may be used to assist recovery. Detailed forensic investigation, extensive malware or database clean-up, manual repair, data recovery or a complete website rebuild is not included as unlimited maintenance. This work may use the remaining included allowance, an active support package or be quoted separately.

  • WEBSITE SOFTWARE UPDATES: DP Web Design does not continuously review and update every component on every website. When we are working on, reviewing or responding to an issue on your website and identify that Joomla, WordPress, plugins, extensions, components, modules or themes require a compatible update, the work can be carried out and the time recorded against the included Website Maintenance & Support Allowance. Major version upgrades, migrations, licence costs, unsupported software and compatibility redevelopment are not included.

Website Maintenance & Support Allowance

1 HOUR PER YEAR

One hour of website-level maintenance and support time is included each year with the Hosting, Security & Maintenance Package. This allowance is used when DP Web Design needs to carry out hands-on work on the website itself.

This can include compatible Joomla or WordPress updates, plugin, component, extension, module or theme updates identified as necessary, security-related website changes, minor content or layout changes and troubleshooting. Time spent on this website-level work is recorded against the one-hour allowance.

Server, hosting and email faults directly relating to services managed by DP Web Design are handled separately and do not normally use this allowance. If the allowance is exhausted, additional website work can be completed using an active support package or quoted separately.

  • Compatible Joomla or WordPress core and website software updates when identified as necessary
  • Security-related website changes, remediation and affected software updates
  • Minor website content, layout or configuration changes
  • Website troubleshooting and compatibility checks
  • Other small website tasks that can be completed within the available support allowance

Clients with an active Hosting, Security & Maintenance Package can add extra websites using the Additional Website Hosting Add-On at $55 per year or $5.50 per month per website. The add-on follows the same billing frequency as the primary package.

The one-hour annual Website Maintenance & Support Allowance belongs to the primary package but may be used across any of the linked additional websites.

Clients with an active Hosting, Security & Maintenance Package can add extra websites for just $55/year or $5.50/month each. Each website receives its own separate hosting environment while remaining linked to the primary package for billing and support.

Additional websites must be billed under the same business, invoice and billing cycle as the primary package. Each domain is still itemised separately, and the additional website add-on cannot be purchased as a standalone hosting package.

B.Y.O. Hosting

You are under no obligation to host your website with DP Web Design. The advantage of hosting with us is that we know the server environment, administration tools and software configurations used for the websites we maintain. This usually allows us to work more efficiently and reduce time spent diagnosing unfamiliar hosting restrictions.

When a website is hosted elsewhere, additional troubleshooting may be required if the provider uses different software versions, security restrictions or server configurations. Work required to diagnose or resolve issues involving an external host may be chargeable.

For clients who want DP Web Design to manage the hosting environment and provide an annual allowance for website-level maintenance, security-related work and troubleshooting when required, we recommend the Hosting, Security & Maintenance Package.

If you choose external hosting, DP Web Design can provide general provider suggestions. Responsibility for the external hosting service remains with the selected provider, and assistance with hosting restrictions or outages may require paid support.

What Is Hosting?

A website is made up of files, images, databases and software that need to be stored on a server connected to the internet. Website hosting is the service that provides this server space and makes your website available to visitors 24 hours a day.

Different websites need different amounts of storage and server resources. A small brochure website generally needs less capacity, while larger websites, online stores, high-resolution image libraries and busier sites may require more processing power, memory and bandwidth.

DP Web Design hosting packages provide different resource levels so the hosting environment can be matched more closely to the size and demands of the website.

Do I have to host with you?

No. When you choose to have your website built by DP Web Design, you are under no obligation to host it with us.

If you choose an external hosting provider, that provider remains responsible for its server performance, outages, backups and hosting support. Any work required from DP Web Design to diagnose or resolve problems involving external hosting will be charged at the applicable support rate.

Clients who want DP Web Design to manage the hosting environment and have an annual allowance available for website-level maintenance, security-related work and troubleshooting can use the Hosting, Security & Maintenance Package.

If I transfer my domain name to DP Web Design, do I still own it?

Yes. The domain name remains yours. Where DP Web Design manages the domain registration, we act as the registrar manager and handle renewals and related administration on your behalf.

You can request your domain access details or transfer the domain to another provider at any time, subject to the normal domain registration and transfer requirements.

Does hosting my website with DP Web Design mean my email is hosted there too?

Only if your email is also hosted with DP Web Design. Standard cPanel email accounts use the DP Web Design mail server.

If your business uses Microsoft 365, Google Workspace or another external email provider, your email continues to be handled by that provider even though your website may be hosted with DP Web Design.

What happens if my website or email goes down after hours?

If the problem relates directly to a DP Web Design server, hosting service or hosted email service, contact DP Web Design and the issue will be investigated. Hosting and email faults within services we directly manage are generally covered by the applicable hosting package.

After-hours assistance is subject to availability. Problems caused by local computers or devices, email software configuration, third-party services or work outside the included hosting scope may be chargeable.

Is there a charge for hosting or email support?

Server, hosting and email faults directly relating to services managed by DP Web Design are generally covered by the applicable hosting package.

Problems caused by a local computer or mobile device, email software configuration, third-party services, external DNS providers or other issues outside the hosting environment may require chargeable support.

For Hosting, Security & Maintenance clients, hands-on work on the website itself—such as software updates, security-related website changes or website troubleshooting—is recorded against the included Website Maintenance & Support Allowance.

What happens if you decide to close up shop?

If DP Web Design ever ceases trading, clients will be provided with the relevant website, hosting, domain and email access information needed to move their services elsewhere.

It is good practice to keep your own copy of important account and access details. You can request the information held for your services at any time for your own secure records.
